The products of the Apple are so bragged about the security. Recently, Apple revealed its latest addition to the smart devices an AirTag. In simple words its tracking device to get your stolen items info and track them via app installed in your iPhone. A security researcher goes by the name StackSmashing revealed the loophole. Apple AirTag hacked became the big news already.

Apple AirTag Hacked

Stacksmahing modified the firmware without getting detected by the device itself. So , basically what Airtag does is, using bluetooth and NFC it gets into discoverable mode from your phone. If someone else swipes an NFC-enabled phone near an AirTag, it presents them with a supposedly anonymous URL pointing to the Apple server found.apple.com, where they can report the misplaced item.

What stacksmashing did after bricking two Airtags, he posted on Twitter. Apparently, @ghidraninja was able to dump the AirTag’s copy-protected firmware, modify it slightly, and write it back undetected by the device. Ghidraninja modified the server name found.apple.com inside the firmware. So that a “lost” AirTag would misdirect an inquisitive iPhone, not to Apple’s legitimate site….

He also shared a tweet redirecting the Apple Airtag hacked to a YouTube video!! Apple bragged a lot about the security of AirTags in their event and well this is how it goes. Hackers could leverage this loophole to redirect users to unknown websites. Checkout ghidraninja YouTube video explaining how Apple Airtag hacked!!
