Google brings a bunch of shortcuts for Google Smart Home controls with Android 11. You can control all the connected Google Home devices with this feature. Most of the Android 11 running device comes with this feature but Samsung use One UI, the settings and interfaces are different. That’s why you may not find the Smart home controls setting on the Galaxy device. But you can enable it with some few clicks. Here we share how to access Smart Home Controls on Samsung devices running on One UI 3.1 or newer.
This is one of the useful features that users have been waiting for a long time. This feature makes your device more attractive. If you are using a smart home device then only this feature is useful. But, if haven’t then this feature is currently not helpful. This is because currently, you can only add smart home controls through the Google Home app. Other smart home applications may add soon in this feature to make it more useful.
Samsung added the Smart Home control feature in the latest One UI 3.1 update, If you are using One UI 3.0 or older then you can’t find this option. However, the Smart Home control is not available in the “Power” menu of One UI 3.1, you can find it on the “Quick Settings” page. You need to enable smart device controls on your Samsung Galaxy phone first.
How to Access Smart Home Controls on Samsung devices running One UI 3.1 or newer
To get this feature you need to update your device to One UI 3.1. If you already updated your phone then follow this guide to access the Google Smart Home control on the “Quick Settings” page. You can follow the given steps to enable the smart home control toggles on your Samsung phone.
Step 1: First install “Google Home” from PlayStore on your Samsung phone. If already installed then skip this step.
Step 2: Now connect your Smart devices with the Google Home app using your device.
Step 3: Swipe down on the home screen to open the notification shade and tap on the โDevicesโ button right next to the Media button.
Step 4: In the Devices section you will find SmartThings, tap on it and select the Google Home option in the drop-down menu.
Step 5: Now it will show all the connected smart home devices in Home toggle.
You can use toggles to control your smart devices such as Smart Lights, Soundbars, Air Purifiers, Plugs, and more. You can tap on any tiles to access your smart home device. For the connected smart light, you can choose to turn on/off the light, change the brightness and choose the colour. For smart speakers, you can choose to control the volume and cast audio.
You can access smart controls over the notification bar without unlocking your device. This is the best part of this feature that gives a good and easy user experience. To enable these settings, click the three dots on the right corner under “Devices.” Then go to “Settings” and enable “Use while the phone is locked”.
As of now, this feature is available for only One UI 3.1, If you have an Android device with Smart device then you can add custom toggles on your device to access it quicker. You can use lots of smart devices to control volume, torch, screen recording, etc.
