Huawei after booked into US entity list, GMS support stopped for Huawei. This happened last year and suddenly the Google services and other US companies were barred. Any US company cannot do business with Huawei from that day. Huawei later announced the Huawei App Gallery, an app store which will be exclusive for Huawei smartphones.
Huawei was looking for Google Services alternatives for a long time. Though they didn’t completely ditch Android. Some rumors came out that the new Harmony OS will be for Huawei/Honor phones. But they released it for their corporate PCs. Later Harmony OS 2.0 released for personal uses. Since then Huawei offered various developers to make their apps available on the Huawei App Gallery platform.
No doubt company is huge and already entered into 5G connectivity supplier. After the announcement for developers about 1.5 million developers are registered on Huawei App Gallery. Huawei provided lots of incentives and poured enough funding to attract more developers. This technique is now becoming a successful move.

The number of active users of HMS crossed the 650 Million mark per month. This is an almost 25% increase from the last year. Also, the 1.5 million developer registrations made up to a 115% increase compared to last year. The Huawei Business cloud services president Donghai added that it will be a success the same as the Google services. Increasing and promising numbers show growth and capability.
Surely, the competition is always better, but the accusations on Huawei are serious. USA claimed that, the Huawei 5G equipment is not secure and Huawei is controlled by Chinese Government. The interesting thing to note that Huawei was on 2nd spot in top global smartphones manufacturers before GMS was disabled. There are some trust issues too with Huawei.
But with the increasing numbers and available apps on Huawei give good signals. Huawei is still releasing smartphones without GMS support. Still the phones are getting sold. They are getting fewer sales but they are getting something. Huawei is already coming up with HERE MAPS for Google Maps alternative. It will interesting to see how the buyers will respond once the apps are available.
