Samsung is one of the top smartphone brands. Samsung has lots of sensors available on their flagship devices. Though on newer flagship they are being removed now. Still, the old series phones have lots of useful sensors that some didn’t know it yet. So, here’s how you can measure SPO2 level on Samsung devices using the SPO2 measure in Samsung Health app.
You may have known it already but this one is for those who don’t know about it. Surely, the phone oximeters are not considered accurate measurement devices but still, Samsung devices had close readings to the oximeters at least you will know the approximate. Nowadays, due to the Covid conditions, the measurements of oxygen levels are necessary. Obviously, you should not rely on these phone measurements but if you want to measure on the go this is how you can do it. You can SPO2 measure in the Samsung health app. How? let’s see it now.
Measure SPO2 Level On Samsung Phones
Samsung included the pulse oximetry sensors on their Samsung series since the S5 came out. But right now with the newer S20 versions, the sensors are removed. But if you got the S or Note series phone till the S10 you can use to SPO2 measure on Samsung Health app. Samsung phones like S7,S8,S9 Note 8,Note 9 and some other phones like these series of Samsung, there is a sensor on the back side of the phone which can measure heart rate and Oxygen level and its accuracy is good.
If you don’t know about SPO2 readings, SPO2 is oxygen saturation in the blood. It is necessary to check if you have enough level of oxygen in your blood. I think below 90 it could be problematic and above 95 is considered to be good. You can search more about it on Google.
How to measure
Firstly, you should have S10 series or below Samsung smartphone. As I have already said they removed these sensors from the latest S20 edition. Now follow the steps to SPO2 measure on Samsung Health app.
1) Open the Samsung health app on your smartphone.
2) Tap on the manage items and enable oxygen saturation.
3) Now on the main screen of Samsung health app click on measure next to oxygen saturation option.
4) At this time it will prompt you to place the finger on the sensor.
5) Stay still while it measure the SPO2 level don’t move your finger.
That’s it after few seconds it will show you the readings. Again, don’t consider it as accurate readings, they have good accuracy but I cannot recommend relying on it.
