The competition in the smartphone world is not only limited to the brand. But also, the chip manufacturers like Qualcomm, Samsung, MediaTek are in the races too. Though Qualcomm chips are having the upper hand in performance as well as in other aspects. Now, rumours are coming up that MediaTek shifts to 4nm processers ahead of the Qualcomm.
The recent report from MoneyUdn revealed the same. One of the biggest chipmakers TSMC got their first order for the 4nm chipsets from the MediaTek. Also, the next generation 3nm chipsets are in the works right now. Obviously, there is Apple, Qualcomm coming in future for these chipsets. MediaTek is also getting lots of order from the Android smartphone makers right now.
MediaTek shifts to 4nm processors
Qualcomm is reportedly short on the 5G chipsets. The firms are moving from the Qualcomm and getting the MediaTek chipsets. They are also cheaper than the Qualcomm counterparts. MediaTek shifts to 4nm processors could make MediaTek a contender for the first time in this market. MediaTek could be a key 5G chipset supplier if the orders flows.
We are already using the 5NM processors like Snapdragon 888. So, as the upcoming 4nm, 3nm chipsets are advanced and there will be high budget for the manufacturing of these chipsets. So, the prices are likely to rise from 30-35$ to 80$. It could benefit MediaTek for generating more revenue. Though there is no official announcement from the company yet.
