You may already have an idea about the processors. The Intel and AMD are the leading desktop processor manufacturers. Whereas Qualcomm, Exynos, Apple, MediaTek, Huawei are the ones who are dominating the mobile market. You may find lots of different numbers and names given to these processors which are confusing for newbies. So here are some mobile processors explained. This is about the mobile processor basic details.
If you have a basic idea about the processors and speed you can easily find out which one is performing well. even if you are not into technical details much you can easily determine which is the good one and decide your preferences. If you don’t know here are some basic details you should know. Let’s know how it works and some basic stuff.
Mobile Processors Explained
Mobile Processors Basics
I am not going into much of that detail these should be easily understandable by anyone. So just like our brain controls the functions of our body processors do the same. They control the various operations going to get executed in mobile devices. How do they work? Suppose if you are opening pictures from your phone’s gallery this action will be registered by the processor and will get stored in the memory.
As you already know it understands only zeroes and one’s language. So the actions are translated to zeroes and ones and then again these transmitted to the mobile screen in a user-readable format. Now you can see the pictures from your gallery this happens in milliseconds. So these are just small basics that you should know. The mobile processors explained, more points are below.
If you look at any processor there’s the mentioning of its speed. Some techie guys says, this processor is this much faster, it has this much number of cores. So what are they?, What decides or determines the processor speed? let’s see it.
Processors Speed
The processor’s speed is stated generally in GHz (Giga Hertz). It is the clock speed of the processors. So what determines the processor speed? The number of cores, clock speed, the fabrication process on which it is made. if you got confused, the more number of cores the better is the processor, and the higher the clock frequency is the faster is the processor.
What is clock speed?
What’s mean by 1Ghz clock speed? You can see every processor is stated as 2.4ghz speed, 2.94ghz speed, etc. The 1 GHz means the processor can perform 1 billion of instructions in 1 second. Likewise, 2 GHz processor will perform 2 billion on instructions in 1 second. As I said earlier, more the clock speed results faster processor.
Processor Cores
You can see the proceesors are labelled as dual core, hexa core, octa core proceesors. What do they mean exactly? Suppose you are team of 4 men and boss todl you to the heavy lifting work. First man comes in and lifts some weight and do its defined task. But when the weight is too much the first one can’t lift so the second man comes to help.
Exactly the same happens in case of the processors. One core has the maximum number of instruction it can process. If the load is more and user have to performs more tasks the next one comes in for rescue. Technically, if the actions are more queue will be formed, if its too much for first core then its transferred to second. These are some mobile processor basic details.
What is ARM Cortex A-53, A-55, A-75, A-76
The ARM is the company which provides the architectural designs to various manufacturing companies. It provided the details to Qualcomm, MediaTek, Kirin etc. In short higher the number generally its the better one.
What is 12nm, 10nm, 7nm Processors
The “nm” stands for the Nanometer it denoted the size of the transistor in the processors. If the processor is stated as 7nm processor as the Snapdragon 865+ then it means it has 7nm sized transistors. So for reducing the size of transistors more number of transistors can be equipped which results in more performance.
Lower the size of transistors less is the power consumption. If the processor is 7nm it will consume less power even with better performance than the 10nm processor. Currently, there are 7nm mobile processors are available on smartphones. There’s already work going on for 5nm processors.
So these are some Mobile processor basic details. The Mobile Processors rankings and the details of ever leading processor manufacturing companies are in the next post below. This will give you mobile processor basic details. Read the below post, to know the leading processors right now and their rankings.
