WhatsApp is a worldwide used messaging platform with almost a billion users. After acquiring the WhatsApp by Facebook, the social media giant tried lots of times to monetize its newly acquired platform but failed multiple times. Due to some legal issues and other difficulties, the social media giant is yet to introduce its ads to WhatsApp. If this happens a whole load of marketing crap is going to come to WhatsApp and also privacy will be a joke which is already is by using Facebook.
WhatsApp is used by billions of users worldwide and its the most used chat platform in the world. No doubt Facebook is going to get a big boom in its revenue if the ads get placed on WhatsApp. WhatsApp was not a free messaging service when it was launched. They had subscription fees to use the platform. Which eventually got reduced to almost $1/year. After WhatsApp was sold to Facebook for almost 16 Billion, Facebook eventually made the WhatsApp free to use service. Almost loads of users were added to WhatsApp after it the subscription was removed.
Facebook already tried lots of times to add ads to WhatsApp. To the settings, status sections, etc. The report came in 2019 that WhatsApp will receive ads only after the unification of Facebook, Instagram platforms. But that is not going to happen sooner because of the Federal trade commission investigation on Facebook privacy violations. If Facebook passes the Federal Trade Commission investigation, only then Facebook can push the ads to WhatsApp. But that doesn’t seem to happen sooner but eventually, it will. Till then WhatsApp will surely remain ad-free.
