WhatsApp recently rolled out a new security feature known as “Suspicious Links”. You may know about the phishing frauds and malicious sites frauds from WhatsApp. As WhatsApp doesn’t restrict sending “any” links to anyone. This new WhatsApp suspicious links feature will be a step to stop these frauds and malicious websites.
WhatsApp suspicious links feature is available on the latest update. You have to update your WhatsApp from Playstore/Appstore to get this feature. If someone sends you the suspicious link, an indicator will be shown on the messages.
See the below image, the URL is “https://แบhatsapp.com/free-tickets”. If you look directly at the URL you will not find any suspicious if you are a normal user. But you can see there’s a dot under the letter “w”. So it’s, not a valid link and the message will indicate you as “suspicious link”. Also in the second image in Netflix URL there’s a character on the “i” letter so it will be reported as suspicious.

Even if the WhatsApp doesn’t show the links are suspicious are not you should always cross check the messages and links before opening them. There are lots of fraudsters who take advantages of normal users and make users visit phishing sites.
Always cross check the messages and links before opening them. Never enter your confidential information anywhere. Most of the messages will be like, you won something, here is your balance click the links to redeem it etc. You may have know all these things but people who are new to smartphones doesn’t know these types of things.
